The first true Cartier wristwatch, the "Santos," was designed and introduced by Louis Cartier in 1904 and named after a dashing Brazilian aviator called Alberto Santos-Dumont. The modern Santos has been a standard of luxury since the late 1970's and one of Cartier's most successful models.
